Coaching

Sometimes you know exactly what needs to change. Sometimes you just know that something does.

I coach thoughtful, ambitious people who have something they want to figure out about their work, their business, themselves, or where they're going next.

You don't need to arrive with a perfectly articulated goal. You might have a decision to make, something you want to change or build, or simply something you can't stop thinking about. Working out what the question actually is can be part of the work.

A Little Bit About Me

Before becoming a coach, I spent nearly two decades working in the creative industry, eventually becoming President of a creative business in New York.

I've worked with global brands and independent businesses, managed and mentored teams, taught emerging creative talent and spent a lot of time around ambitious people trying to make meaningful work and meaningful lives.

I've also lived some transitions of my own: changing careers, moving countries and building a life thousands of miles from where I grew up, spending a year healing from an injury that forced life to become much smaller for a while.

I don't believe you need to have lived someone's exact experience to coach them. But I do know what it is to find yourself between versions of your life and have to ask: what now?

I'm currently in training to be an ICF-accredited coach, through Animas Centre for Coaching.

What Can We Work On?

People come to coaching for all sorts of reasons. You might have a very specific problem you want to work through, a goal you're trying to reach, something you want to change or build, or just a feeling that you'd benefit from having somewhere to think properly.

We might talk about work, business, leadership, confidence, relationships, ambition, creativity, identity, money, boundaries, decisions, habits, change, or what you want your life to look like. Often, one thing leads pretty quickly to another. You might be:

Trying to work out what you actually want next.
Maybe something that used to fit doesn't anymore, or you have several possible directions and can't tell which one is yours.

Sitting with a decision you can't seem to make.
Stay, leave, start it, stop it, change direction, take the opportunity — or work out why you keep going round in circles.

Building something of your own.
A business, a creative practice, a new idea or the next version of something that already exists and wanting somewhere to think beyond the immediate to-do list.

Questioning your relationship with work.
Ambition, confidence, boundaries, leadership, burnout, success and what you actually want work to take up in your life.

Getting in your own way.
You know what you want to do, but confidence, fear, perfectionism or an old story about yourself keeps showing up.

In between versions of your life.
Something has changed, by choice or otherwise, and you're trying to work out who you are and what you want from here.

If there's something taking up a lot of space in your head, something you're curious about, or something you'd like to be different, we can start there.

How I Coach

Coaching isn't consulting, therapy or advice.

I'm not there to tell you what I think you should do. I'm there to listen, ask good questions, notice what you might not be noticing, challenge you when it's useful, and help you get closer to your own answers.

My style is warm, curious, practical and direct. There's room for the big existential stuff and also the very practical okay, but what am I actually going to do on Monday?

I particularly love working with creative, thoughtful, ambitious people who are in some kind of transition, even if they can't quite name what the transition is yet.

How Does It Work?

I usually start with three months of coaching, with six 60-minute sessions every other week. At the end of the three months, we can wrap up or continue working together if it feels useful.

I offer different rates for self-funded and company-funded coaching. I also offer a small number of reduced-rate places where cost might otherwise make coaching out of reach.

Start with a chemistry session

We’ll start with a 45-minute chemistry session to talk about what’s bringing you to coaching, what you’d like to be different and whether we’re a good fit to work together.

It’s a coaching conversation in its own right, so you’ll get a feel for how I work and hopefully leave having seen or thought about something a little differently, whether or not we decide to continue.

45 minutes · $30
If we decide to work together, the $30 is credited towards your coaching fee.
